Science: Year 5

A brief summary of each unit : Living Things And Their Habitats - In this unit, pupils learn about the process of reproduction and the life cycles of plants, mammals, amphibians, insects and birds. Earth and Space - This unit is the only astronomy-related science unit in the primary science curriculum. Forces - This unit will teach your class about types of forces such as gravity, friction, water resistance and air resistance. Properties and Changes of Materials - In this unit, you'll be teaching your class about different materials, their uses and properties, as well as dissolving, separating mixtures and irreversible changes. Animals Including Humans - This unit focuses on the changes that human beings experience as they develop to old age. Scientists and Inventors - In the final unit of our year 5 science scheme of learning, you'll teach your class about famous scientists and inventors.
